Progressive Blackjack is a popular table game available at WGS (former OddsOn or Vegas Technology) online casinos. The goal is for the your hand to add up to 21 or come closer to 21 than the dealer's hand. In Progressive Blackjack, a player may place an extra fixed $1 bet per each hand, and win a specific portion of the jackpot based on the progressive jackpot payout table. In this game you are not only rewarded with the top prize or even 10% of the pot, but also with extra cash prizes for much lower valued hands (6 combinations in total). For each hand played, there is a $2 minimum bet on each hand, and a $200 limit on each hand.
When a hand splits, it's still the first 2 cards dealt, but not to each split hand separately. This is the game where players compete against the dealer. OddsOn Progressive Blackjack is played on a semi-circular table with 5 playing positions. The Dealer takes cards from a shoe. This version of Blackjack is played using European Blackjack rules with a Shoe containing 4 decks of 52 cards each, re-shuffled after each hand.
There are 5 playing positions (spots) you can choose from and you can play up to 5 hands of Blackjack at the same time. In this multi-hand blackjack version each hand played is a separate wager against the dealer. The player is dealt 2 cards for each of the hands in play. The Dealer is also dealt 2 cards, one of them is face up.
Rules of The Progressive Blackjack Game
- 4 decks of cards, that are shuffled after the completion of every hand.
- Player may draw as many additional cards as wanted as long as the value of player's hand does not exceed 21 (BUST).
- The dealer must stand on all 17 (hard or soft) or higher.
- An Ace has a value of either 1 or 11. Any hand that contains an Ace card and whose value does not exceed 21 is called a "soft hand". An Ace adopts the value most beneficial for your hand, 1 or 11.
- If you are dealt an Ace and a face card or 10 this is called a "Blackjack" and your hand will "Stand" automatically. If you beat the dealer with a "Blackjack" you are paid out at 3 : 2.
- If you are dealt a pair you may "Split" your hand. A second wager is automatically placed on your second hand and you play both hands separately.
- If you have "Split" a pair of aces or tens and then draw a card with a value of ten or an Ace (value is 21) then this is not a "Blackjack". It beats the dealer's hand value less than 21 and ties (called a PUSH) against the dealer's 21, except if the dealer has a "Blackjack".
- If you split Aces you will receive only one more card to complete your hand and if the 2nd card is a face card or 10 it's not a "Blackjack". You can split Aces only once.
- If your initial two cards have values of 9, 10 or 11 then you are allowed to "Double". This is a bet (the same as your original bet) that your hand total with your next card will be higher than the dealer's hand. If you win you will be paid double of your total wager (or 4 times your original bet.)
- If the dealer's open card is an Ace you may purchase "Insurance" (it pays 2 to 1). If the player purchases "Insurance" and then Splits his/her hand, the hand will no longer be covered by Insurance. If you purchase "Insurance" and then Double your hand, only the initial wager is doubled.
First you decide how much you want to wager and how many hands you want to play and place your wager(s) on the table (minimum default wager is $2). Then you can choose to make a progressive $1 bet on any hand if you wish, just click on the gold Progressive Bet Slot located directly above the Bet.
The dealer deals 2 cards at each player's position that has a wager and deals two cards the dealer. One of the dealer's cards remains face down, all the others are turned face up. Then you decide to "Hit" or "Stand". When applicable, the "Split", "Double" or "Insurance" options are available. Once you've decided to "Split" or "Double" you are then able to "Hit" or "Stand". If you purchased "Insurance" you are able to "Split", "Double", "Hit" and "Stand".
If your hand contains an Ace and a 10 or a face card then you have a "Blackjack", or "Natural Blackjack", and you win automatically. If your hand' value exceeds 21 then you have gone "Bust" and have lost this hand. Once the player's hand(s) are completed the dealer's hand will play out. When the dealer's hand is complete, your hand(s) is compared to the dealer's hand to determine your wins or losses.
